We are a group of four persons that are studying sustainable development at Cemus, Uppsala University. As final project in our recent course, Actors and Strategies for Change - Towards Global Sustainabilities, we have chosen to create and host a charity sport event in Uppsala. With this action we want to put focus on peace, sharing, sustainability, freedom and movement.
The idea derived from one of our groupmembers, Ben, who comes from Austria. Every year Vienna, the capital of Austria, is arranging a Peace Run and he thought we could do a similar thing in Uppsala.
This year, 2014, Sweden is celebrating 200 years of peace and Uppsala is hosting several events throughout the year. Every month has a theme, and fitting enough March is the month of sustainability.
We want everyone to be able to participate, we want everyone to be able to be spectators - without having to pay entry fees or tickets. Therefore, we are not charging anyone anything to participate or to watch, instead we are raising money to donate peace keeping activities.
